Kinetic study of the oxidation by oxygen of liquid AlMg alloys
Résumé
During the elaboration of aluminum-magnesium alloys, the surface of the liquid metal may be oxidized, mainly loading to the formation of MgO. In order to understand the oxidation mechanisms and to avoid it, the oxidation of an industrial Al-Mg 5% was studied under a flowing mixture of helium and oxygen, the partial pressure in oxygen being fixed between 20kPa and atmospheric pressure, at 700°C by thermogravimetry. At this temperature, the alloy is in the liquid phase.
