Les invertébrés aquatiques indicateurs des relations entre le karst et la rivière Exemple de la Cèze

Abstract : The aquatic fauna that lives in the karstic systems related to the Cèze River canyon was studied in two habitats (6 caves and 4 springs) together with the hyporheic fauna of the river (fauna living inside sediment interstices). The karstic fauna was poorly diversified, but probably under-estimate. The spatial heterogeneity was high between caves, between habitats (caves versus springs) and between micro-habitats inside a single cave. At the scale of the micro-habitat, the clay was more densely populated possibly because it represents at the same time a habitat for bioturbators and a source of food. The exchange between the caves and the springs were weak and only a few karstic species drift to the hyporheic habitat of the river. These organisms may represent good indicators of the origin of the hyporheic water and help for the choices in protection strategies.
