A new sensor for the analysis of urea in human serum

Abstract

A new sensor for the analysis of urea has been described using immobilized urease in acrylamide-methacrylamide-hydrazides prepolymer onto the surface of a PVC matrix nonactin based solid-state ammonium ion-selective electrode. Calibration curves for the analysis of urea and ammonium ion are reported. The new sensor has been used for the analysis of urea in human serum and the results are in good agreement with those obtained from conventional spectrophotometric method.
