Diagnosis of Servitisation Potential - Proposal of a Strategic Diagnosis Framework dedicated to SMEs

Résumé

The transition of manufacturing industry towards service, also called servitisation process, is currently spreading throughout the whole economy. Servitisation of large companies has been largely studied by the scientific literature, but still little is known more specifically regarding SMEs. Yet, in such context, SME managers are confronted to a highly complex enterprise transformation process. The paper explains a diagnosis framework dedicated to help SME manufacturing decision-makers to manage situations of strategic changes affecting their business, for which servitisation is perceived as a consistent opportunity. The framework is conceptually presented, then applied to an industrial SME, in the pharmaceutical equipment sector.
