Contexte morphologique, lithologique et structural du synclinal de Boisson (Gard) Approche par la géochimie

Abstract : The Boisson synclinal belongs to the geographic extent of the eastern NE-SW axis of the Alès ditch, underlined by the Barjac fault, in the set of folded structures mainly oriented E-W and breaking NNE-SSW, that have affected the Cretaceous terrains of the northern scrublands or the Gard at the end of the Lower Cretaceous until Paleogene times. This structural arrangement will favour sediment depositions of Upper Cretaceous times found in the periphery of the Massif Central and in particular in the eastern part of the Alès groove. These sediments are partially shrouded by those of Eocene times overlapping them. (Jolivet et al., 2020) In this paper the mapping of geological features is taken up in order to better refine and complete the studied zone described in the geological map of Alès (912). A characterisation protocol through geochemical ICP-AES analysis of samples of the Upper Cretaceous referenced on the geological maps will also permit to establish the major, trace and transition elements of each geological stage from Cenomanian to Santonian.
