Résumé

In this chapter, we present a few examples of stress corrosion cracking (SCC) studies with an emphasis on the various approaches implemented to reproduce, understand and propose solutions. Based on a few material/environment couples, we attach particular importance to the various study methodologies aiming to reproduce, at laboratory scale, the cracking observed in service, to analyze the initiation and propagation mechanisms and, if possible, propose methods for mitigation and even recommend a microstructure or material which is more resistant in an environment that is often dictated by the application.
