Business Process Reengineering in Agile Manufacturing – A Mixed Method Research
Résumé
Business process reengineering has been successfully deployed to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and improve customer satisfaction and organizational agility. The aim of this paper is to provide an overview of the applications of BPR in the context of agile manufacturing and to identify the barriers and drivers of BPR adoption in practice. To this end, a mixed method is used combining literature review and interviews. Drivers, and technical and human barriers identified from the literature are assessed and extended with insights from practitioners. The results indicate also a general agreement on the relevance of BPR to agile manufacturing. The findings contribute to a better understanding of the opportunities and challenges associated with the implementation of BPR in agile manufacturing, and inform practitioners and decision-makers in their efforts to improve organizational agility and performance.
