Brightway2 and OpenLCA are the two main open-access LCA software available today. Depending on ease and habits on coding and software usage, we often face need to transfer databases and activities from one LCA platform to another. Brightway2-io (bw2io) offers possibilities to import data related to various formats, Ecospold1, Ecospold2, SimPro csv or Excel (based on a specific format). But bw2io do not include yet an import process for OpenLCA databases, even if OpenLCA database can be consulted through an IPC connexion or extracted into a JSON-LD format. The use of IPC connexion was demonstrated during the last Brightcon hakathon through the Valentin Starlinger program, developed to consult OpenLCA entities. The present talk will present the openlca2bw python package developed to import OpenLCA database into a Brightway2 project. The ongoing version of this package, V0.1, performs the reading, the conversion and the writing of the imported OpenLCA elementary flows, LCIA methods, processes, with parameters, uncertainties and formulas. Two importation channels are implemented, through the IPC connexion, activated in OpenLCA, or through a JSON-LD archive, as a ZIP document. The talk will start with a presentation of all the difficulties encountered to develop this package, such as the biosphere or units and providers management. Then a notebook will be produced and diffused to allow listeners to test the package on a basic example, potentially a case study from the OpenLCA platform (i.e. ceramic vs paper cups). A live demonstration could be performed. And finally, development standpoints will be mentioned, especially to deal with multiouputs activities and allocation rules, because the current version was developed based on an Ecoinvent cut-off database. https://github.com/cyrillefrancois/openlca2bw
